The project is managed and under the scope VCLT, which means it has been approved and allocated based on funds within VCLT's management of our site. Please note that the funds allocated for the playground are restricted solely for the project and do not directly affect the coop's own budget and financial operations.
The project was tendered out to several companies over a reasonable period of time and in the end, 2 proposals were received. Based on the feedback during the process, the size and scope of our project were likely too small to attract additional quotes.
Once the option has been chosen, the process will be to reach out to the successful bidder. Based upon initial discussions, the materials would need to be ordered/ manufactured with a tentative lead time of 6 to 8 weeks after which the project would commence based on the vendors' availability.
More information will become available once the option is chosen but the work done for the project will be done during reasonable work hours ensuring minimal disruptions for our members. Proposal 2 (steel) will require demolition of the existing concrete islands. Proposal 1 (wood) requires no demolition.
