The funds are already committed by our fiscal 2020/2021 budget; one of the proposals will go ahead. What we need from you as members and residents of Fraserview is feedback on which of the remaining two proposals you prefer. Please review each proposal and its pros and cons and then provide your feedback to vote for your preferred proposal. Voting will end on Thursday, March 18th at 9pm.
In the planning stages for Fraserview Housing Co-op, the vision was for a family-oriented community, which included a safe space for children to play. When the co-op was completed and the first residents moved in back in October 2018, the reality of the playground space sadly did not meet expectations. Over the past 2 years with the creation of our own board of directors, the board has advocated to improve the space, and we are pleased to announce that work is to be done to do just that.
In October 2020, our partners, the Vancouver Community Land Trust (VCLT) finally confirmed that funds would be available for the project, and at this time the project was tendered for bids. Over the period of several months, fulfilling our Duty of Care obligation, we received some interest from potential vendors, and of those companies which did provide quotes, we were ultimately provided with two options to revise the space.
We also recently reconfirmed VCLT's commitment to the project in terms of budgetary allowances and the board is eager to break ground on this project.
Please see attached summaries of the 2 options for the revised space and let us know which you prefer.
Read through the material for both proposals. The full proposals from the contractor are provided, as well as summaries and lists of pros and cons. Consider both proposals carefully, then provide your feedback.
